VERMONT CONTEMPORARY PAYWRIGHTS
FORUM AWARD & FESTIVAL
Vermont Contemporary Playwrights’ Forum
In an
effort to support theatre that is not only a “Vermont product” but
also vibrant, innovative, and new, MOXIE Productions presents the Vermont
Contemporary Playwrights Forum Award each year to an author of an unpublished
original play. Chosen from all those submitted in response to a national
call for entries, the selected work is given both a public reading and
a staged workshop production. Those involved in the process of developing
the work include the playwright, a collaboration of Vermont and professional
artists, musicians and technicians (as needed), and a mentor program for
the training of various theatre craft. If deemed appropriate, a production
of the play will enter the state, regional or national theatrical arenas
in touring capacities.
The long-term goals of such an effort are:
- To create a forum for the support of viable new American theatre.
- To
bring Vermont and professional artists together in collaboration of
their talents.
- To provide a training ground for all aspects of theatre
craft and production.
